I am an experienced and passionate Speech and Language Therapist. I have worked within the NHS, in the charity sector and in education. I am registered with the HCPC, RCSLT and ASLTIP.
I will work with you to tailor therapy to your child's individual needs. I have extensive experience working with children of a variety of ages and with a range of needs.
I am committed to evidence based practice and love learning! I work collaboratively with parents, caregivers and education staff to improve outcomes for children. I can develop and deliver child specific training as well as delivering broader training packages. Contact me for details.
An Initial Assessment usually lasts between 60-90 minutes. I will take a thorough case history where we can also discuss your concerns as well as your child’s interests, strengths and what’s been successful or not so far. I use a mixture of formal and informal assessment methods which depend on the child. A detailed written report is always provided following Initial Assessment and this will include recommendations for future input.
Therapy sessions typically last 45-60 minutes. I will work on targets jointly set with you and model different activities for you to try at home in between sessions. Targets are regularly reviewed and progress is carefully monitored. It is helpful to share targets and therapy activities with educational settings as well as any other professionals that are regularly involved with your child e.g. NHS Speech and Language Therapist, private tutor etc.
Sometimes 1:1 therapy is not indicated at the time of Initial Assessment but I may recommend that progress is reviewed after a period of time. Review Assessments typically last around 60 minutes. A written report detailing progress and next steps will be provided following review.
